Barbie’s Decor Has Got Nothin’ on Justine’s

When Justine Martinez was a child, she scored a beautiful Barbie’s Dreamhouse.

Honestly? That dream decor wasn’t really up to Justine’s standards.

“I didn’t care about clothes and shoes for my Barbie. It didn’t matter to me if my Barbie was naked. What really mattered was the home decor and home accessories,” she said. Justine spent her childhood decorating and re-decorating Barbie’s home. Then she started accessorizing corners of her real house and then whole rooms. She was an interior designer at birth and with patience, really hard work and some sound business decisions, Justine Martinez Designs (JMD) was established in 2017. The company is a force to be reckoned with in the home staging arena.

3 Insider Home Seller Design Tips
from Justine Martinez Design

  1. Declutter, declutter, declutter. It’s very hard to imagine living in a home when it is full of someone else’s personal items. Stash all of that away in boxes.
  2. Neutrals are IN Baby!! Specifically regarding paint, having your wall colors a soft and serene neutral palette with help buyers see themselves easier in your home.
  3. Curb appeal is a given- this is your chance to put your best foot forward, upfront! Potential buyers will love or not love your home within the first 5 minutes of laying eyes on it. A fresh coat of paint on the front door, black wood chips on your landscaping, some cute new address numbers and an updated lighting fixture are some affordable ways to make your home “pop”!

JMD can make anything look good

I recently ramped up a full-service seller package that relieves home sellers from many cleaning, repair, landscaping, and junk removal tasks at my expense. Once all of that work is done, we turn Justine loose to work her magic. Some people just have an eye for design and she is one of them. Her professional team can change the entire look and feel of a home with a few strategically-placed rugs, lamps, art pieces, pillows and potted plants. Once she and her team are finished staging a home, our professional photographer brings everything together in one neat package.

I hired JMD about 2.5 years ago. It was clear to me then that Justine had real talent. Today, my clients rave about the JMD Team.

“I love what I do because I never get bored,” she said. Each home is a new challenge she eagerly accepts.

Justine said it’s simple to turn a stale, dark room from normal to plush with just a few accessories. When working with new home listings, “We want the homes to feel cozy. I like to see a person immediately form an emotional attachment to a home. That’s what makes a buyer fall in love.”

A passion for design was all she needed

Her style and decorating instincts didn’t come from some fancy design school. Justine is entirely self-taught. She was aware of her surroundings and has probably mentally remodeled a million rooms.

Her first step into the world of business was through the creation of a small staging company. A portion of her profits went right back into the business. She began collecting inventory one piece at a time.

Despite some major changes in the way we did business due to Covid, Justine’s inventory is stocked and her full staff is in action every day.

In addition to being a business owner, Justine and her husband Salvador are the parents of two young ladies.
